So I am not too sure how to start off a blog considering that this is my first time, I guess that I am no longer “blog innocent”. I should be honest and say that I originally thought that blogging was “emo”, but I look back now and see that, that thought was superficial and poorly supported. Anyways back to Sociology… I am looking forward to when this class gets rolling so that I can have some insightfull things to say about the media other than what is obvious to me now and what I learnt in Sociology of Youth. Which was interesting but a little too “Save the Youth” to me, at times it seemed like a mini-rally. Although I must agree that youth do indeed have severe issues and lots of them are inflicted upon them through the media and the views that this sources expresses. I am hoping that in this class we will have the opportunity to learn more about the types of media, how they were develloped and the ways that they manipulate information or even the ways that they don’t… if that exists.
The little exercise that we were doing in class yesterday got me to thinking is their media discrimination. Do people dileberatly alienate or “flame” others who choose to express themselves or obtain information through different forms of media? If so, is there some type of gamers or television addicts support group? Do book readers look down upon gamers or the vice versa… could you imagine that argument?

That was a comment well wasted.
I like your proposed argument at the end of the blog. I say we adress it once warm and fuzzy from all those wonderful fermented grapes we are about to ingest!
Cheers
Yes Wade, it seems to me that that would be a great conversation starter… remember this one for next time
There is deffinetly a negative connotation attached to different types of media, gamers for surely. I did read somewhere though that the video game industry will soon surpass the film industry in profits.
